This Pool Water Punch Recipe Pairs Perfectly With A NIGHT SWIM

Originally published on Fangoria.com, January 6, 2024

After watching Night Swim, you may reconsider your New Year’s resolution to swim laps for fitness. Bryce McGuire’s supernatural horror flick splashed into theaters this weekend. Inspired by his childhood fears and a short film of the same name, McGuire transforms the irrational fear of a bottomless pool into a cinematic nightmare.

So, what’s Night Swim all about? When the Waller family, led by Wyatt Russell and Kerry Condon, move into their dream home, they quickly realize that their real estate agent left out a few ‘minor’ details about the pool, which harbors more hauntings than refreshments. It’s a suspenseful story of the family’s struggles as they confront a malevolent force lurking beneath the surface of their seemingly charming abode. Sometimes, a great location at an unbeatable price may come with unexpected house guests of the supernatural kind!

Night Swim plunges into the uncharted waters of human fear and the unknown, proving that the most familiar places often hide the darkest secrets. McGuire derives inspiration from classic horror movies like Poltergeist, Amityville HorrorThe Shining, and the literature of Stephen King. He also takes cues from timeless terrors of the deep, such as Creature from the Black Lagoon and Jaws, delivering a film that blends suspense, terror, and those “WTF?” moments that make us tick.

As you brace yourself for the on-screen horrors, why not immerse yourself in a themed beverage? In true The Homicidal Homemaker tradition, I’ve stirred up a Night Swim-inspired recipe to sip on as you dip your toes into this aquatic nightmare. This Pool Water Punch blends blue raspberry lemonade, cream of coconut, and a tangy twist of lime. This non-alcoholic Pool Water Punch won’t require a lifeguard, but you might sink into the deep end of your couch if you choose to conjure up a more spirited experience by adding a shot of your favorite liquor to each serving!

So, grab a glass of Pool Water Punch, and prepare to be submerged into the haunted depths of Night Swim—where every ripple could be the harbinger of something sinister lurking beneath!
